Domain Lifecycle Policy
GateHills Technology FZE
Effective Date: 01/05/2025
1. Domain Registration and Renewal Timelines
- A domain name is typically registered for a 1–10 year period.
- Registrants can renew a domain name at any time before expiration via their account dashboard or billing portal.
2. Expiration Notifications
GateHills will notify Registered Name Holders (RNHs) of upcoming domain expirations using a multi-channel approach:
- 30 days before expiration – first email reminder
- 7 days before expiration – second reminder
- 1 day before expiration – final reminder before expiry
- Within 5 days after expiration – post-expiration notice
- User dashboard alerts – visible on account login
Note: All notices include renewal instructions, payment links, and consequences of non-renewal.
3. Renewal Grace Period
- Auto-Renew Grace Period: 0–30 days after expiration
- The registrant can renew the domain at the standard renewal fee.
- During this period, the domain may temporarily be placed on hold or disabled.
4. Redemption Grace Period (RGP)
- If not renewed during the auto-renew grace period, the domain enters a Redemption Grace Period of up to 30 days.
- During the RGP, the domain can still be recovered for an additional Redemption Fee.
Redemption Fee: AED 300 (approximately USD 82)
Note: This fee is added on top of the regular renewal price.
5. Deletion and Release
- After the Redemption Grace Period, if still not renewed, the domain will be scheduled for deletion.
- Once deleted, it becomes available for general registration by any party.
6. Registrar Obligations under ICANN ERRP
GateHills complies fully with ICANN’s Expired Registration Recovery Policy (ERRP).
We provide:
- Timely renewal notices
- A clear recovery process
- Transparent pricing
